The modern age is the age of social media. Now we associate with a large number of people from every corner of the world and know many unknown things with a single click on our mobile phone through many social media apps such as YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It enriches education with audio-visual aids and innovative learning tools. Because of the bliss of Internet connectivity students browse Google, Yahoo, and media.com in their daily lives and get their queries solved, and people communicate with their near and dear ones whenever they wish.
Many poor students earn money by creating content on social media platforms and continuing their studies. With the help of a single click, students learn complicated theories easily from excellent teachers through social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, etc. This way social media helps many studious and diligent students who cannot afford the expenses of study materials and private tutors. On the other hand, many students waste their time browsing social media platforms and watch time-consuming unnecessary content aimlessly. Even a few students get addicted to social media in such a way that their parents need to consult a psychiatrist to get their children rid of their smartphones. Through social media, we get in touch with celebrities, politicians, and many renowned persons and desire to follow their glamorous and gorgeous lifestyles so we cannot differentiate between real life and reels. Now five-year-old children like to play games on social media apps and chat with their school friends on WhatsApp. Again many of our youths are addicted to dirty and nasty videos and waste their precious time. Besides these social media disconnects people from one another physically though it connects people with one another virtually.
Social media influences our lives as a boon or curse simultaneously, depending upon us. Sometimes it snatches peace and sleep from us as we cannot admit the reality of our lives. we use social media apps now and then with a reason or without a reason and as a result sometimes it inspires us and sometimes it misguides us. These apps are so time-consuming that they make our brains inactive and dull to a great extent but they are quite helpful for learning new things, earning our livelihood, and communicating with people. So we should know how to use social media to get its beneficial and positive impact more than its harmful effects.
Every year we celebrate Independence Day in India on the 15th of August across the country with great grandeur, pride, and joy. This day makes us feel the values of unity and diversity and reminds us of all the great contributions of our freedom fighters who fought and sacrificed their lives with the spirit of patriotism and unity to end the colonial rule of the British.
On this day the national flag is hoisted in every corner of our country with pride and respect, and every Indian sings our national song with great devotion and enthusiasm. The tricolour – saffron, white, and green are reflected in dresses, rangolis, boutonnieres, and each ribbon we use on this day. Students of different age groups participate in singing patriotic songs, dancing, recitation, and parades in every school, college, and other educational institution. Our Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi, and many cultural programs are also held there. In all the schools chocolates and cakes are distributed to students, and we make food of our choice at our homes to celebrate this day.
Independence Day played a very important role in shaping our destiny in 1947 when Indians achieved their Independence for the first time after so many sacrifices and as a result, now we enjoy every moment of freedom. So every Indian waits for their Independence Day during the entire year.
As a new difficulty begets a new opportunity, the same happens to our education. When COVID-19 entered the entire world in the disguise of a demon, all people were compelled to confine themselves within the four walls of a room. It was the time when all were worried about their kids and their education. At last, all the schools decided to provide education online mode.
During covid-19 pandemic online teaching was implemented in every corner of the world except a few places where poor network connectivity and poor infrastructure of school became an unbeatable barrier in the way of education. With the help of online education students could continue their studies, and most of the parents were filled with a ray of hope. Though students used Zoom, Google Meet, WhatsApp, and YouTube to communicate with their teachers and solve their questions, many difficulties were faced in terms of internet connectivity. Gradually, students along with teachers got habituated to online classes which took less time than the time needed to learn in a traditional classroom, but many students got themselves addicted to smartphones, laptops, and smart TVs to a great extent that they were engulfed in the wrong track of technology. Online examinations were held to motivate students to learn, but many of the students learned how to use unfair means to get good marks in the examination. Many students used ‘E-learning’, recorded videos, and TV channels to enhance their knowledge, but a few students left their studies and played online games.
It was the time when students, parents, and teachers were concerned about their studies and waiting for the reopening of schools restlessly.
During covid-19 pandemic online classes enriched students with a light of knowledge, but it could not replace physical classes. Online classes harmed a few students as they misused internet connectivity to play games and chat with friends, but it became the greatest boon for those students who aspired to education.
Most of us believe success means what we want, and happiness means enjoying our success. According to this definition, success and happiness are interconnected and build reciprocal relationships with each other. Thus, people run after name, fame, and money which are considered marks of success, but a large number of them get tired of success and fail to feel happiness.
In reality, happiness is a mental state in which we feel satisfied with everything we have. Undoubtedly, success plays a vital role in shaping our destiny, and it influences our happiness. It impacts our lives along with our livelihood. So we need to fulfil our goals and taste success which is a part of happiness, but success only cannot determine happiness. Happiness depends on our approach, the way we live every moment, and how we face the challenges of life. Again, if we spend our time in search of entertainment and what we like, we consider entertainment as happiness. This way we destroy our huge time aimlessly, and face trouble and turmoil in life. So discipline, satisfaction, and peace are essential components of happiness. If we are happy, we succeed in fulfilling our goals. On the other hand, successful people are not always happy. So it can be said that happiness leads us to the ladder of success, but success does not bring happiness always.
Hence, we should not destroy happiness by chasing only success and we should not hamper success to realize happiness. Hence, we need to have the responsibility of making a balance between success and happiness which are equally important to shape our destiny.
